Update

It’s been a while since I have updated this blog, I have it set up with my Windows Live Writer so I’m sure I’ll be better for it now.

Today I’ll share an assortment of photos I’ve taken of my girls lately. (Since it’s been so long, I’ve long since gone from “daughter” to “daughters!”)

As you can see, my style has changed a bit since I last posted, but I rather think it’s for the better! Also, you can find me on facebook for more regular photo updates.

First of all, I should most definitely be in bed by now. Second of all, I have serious priority issues. I’m pretty sure that editing serious pictures should be on the top of the list. I can never seem to resist the fun ones though.

vroom, vroom! This is similar to what Kyle does for work. Drives something noisy and looks excited. I gather.

What a beautiful family. And of course Lucas is absolutely delicious. He gave me all his best smiles before we arrived at the park but he was still a really good sport and I have some great shots of him and of the whole family. I say some, but my little workspace screen is just full full full to the point where it took me a while just to sort through the good ones to find some to quickly edit.

So, just a quick processing on these three because I really should be quite soundly asleep by now, and off I go. Any of these could easily get tweaked a bit more yet when I sit down with a nice coffee and do some solid editing sometime next week.

a little and a lot

Not a lot of posting lately, I know… I’ve been busy, most of it revolving around this:

(I have about a month of roundness left, give or take, although you can never tell with babies)
…and this:

And most definitely soaking up the lays rays of sunshine while our backyard still has some of this:

Technically barefoot season is definitely over but since this young lady would rather be the dragon than the princess, her footwear is a bit off to stage left. I suppose I can understand holding onto bare feet as long as possible, and certainly I can appreciate bare feet running around in the grass much more than sock feet.

I hope everyone got in as much bare feet as they could this summer! And I’ll pass on hearing from those of you who escape in the middle of winter to find somewhere nice to take your socks off. ;)

Just a few examples of how the same photo can look with different processing effects. The examples would probably work better if my model was wearing something more ’boutique’ than a bright yellow tshirt.
I tend to prefer the basic brights, but I know a lot of people like the more softly faded washes. I’m capable of doing it, I just feel more comfortable in my ‘happy place.’ If I had to describe my style in one word it would be Vibrant. (Maybe LV should stand for Life Vibrant instead of my name, hey? ;) Works either way.)
In other news, most of my photos will be shot in full manual from now on, including this one.

VB Family Gallery

Okay, so I got on a bit of a roll and pretty much finished editing the photos from this shoot, I think. These are the best shots from each setup, as well as a few of my personal favourites (the ‘everyone look in random directions’ and ‘show your muscles’ ones, for example. Or Peter & Hendriks ‘model shots’ followed by the face I got when I teased the ‘model face’)

The slideshow and gallery are the same images, just different methods of viewing. The slideshow is a bit quicker, but if you click the images in the gallery and click through it will give you a nicer picture. Enjoy!

Another sneak peek.

Royson & Shannay

VB family sneak peek

Just a sneak peek at the two pictures I snuck the time to edit today! I say snuck because there are breakfast dishes staring at me accusingly from across the table and we’ve had lunch already. So, a quick preview, and I’m off to unload and reload the dishwasher!

This shot of just Hendrik and Shelley is most likely to be my favourite one from the whole shoot. The sun suddenly came out and hit them just right in that magical way it does sometimes.

This picture is funny to me because Shannay had had enough of this day and was clapping her hands and expressing her distaste with the whole situation, but she actually wound up looking happier in this shot of the ladies then she did of the rest.
